Welcome to Planning for Urban Climate Adaptation, a course that will teach you how to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze and plan for the impacts of climate change on urban areas. This course contains materials from the IHE Delft MSc Programme on Water and Sustainable Development, and it is designed by Hans van der Kwast, an expert in GIS and hydrology.
In this course, you will learn how to:
- Prepare a basemap for a city using open data sources
- Apply GIS methods and tools to assess the vulnerability and exposure of urban areas to climate hazards such as floods, droughts, and heat waves.
The course consists of several tutorials that will guide you step by step through the data preparation, analysis, and visualization processes. You will use QGIS 3.34 Prizren or newer in combination with useful plugins.
